I was just finally reading some obituaries and I was shocked to read Iona's. I enjoyed the 13 years living beside her very much so. She definitely was an independent lady and wanted to make sure everybody knew that. Iona would often come over if we had a little pit fire going and my grandson Jeremiah would be very excited to give Iona a call and ask her if she'd like to come over and she would always say I'll bring the marshmallows and Jeremiah would get right excited over it. She was a wonderful person and I know from her stories she worked very hard most of her life. It was easy to tell she would do anything for anybody if she could.
I hope posting the picture of her and Jer was ok.
May you all be able to surround yourself with all the good memories of her and all the love you have for each other to get you through these days.

For my Nan Hansport,
As these tears of grief fall down my cheeks I try to focus on all the wonderful memories we have made. All the summers Krista and I would come to stay with. I always remember being so excited when Dad would drive us up. Him asking us if we were sure we wanted to stay because he wasn't driving back up for us and of course we always stayed. Endless days of you taking all us grandkids to the water slide. You would sit for hours knitting dishcloths watching us go up and down the dam slide.
I remember you teaching me to knit and every time I lost a stitch you would make me pull it all apart and say "well do you want it done right or do you want it all to fall apart?" I can assure you now I can make a perfect dishcloth and you would be proud of all the blankets I've made.
I'll never forget the three of us riding around in the front seat of your old car and you letting us run the gas. We were brats so we would press down way to hard and you would scream "woah, woah, woah" and Kris and I would laugh and laugh. Then the story we would make you tell over and over again when the cops pulled a gun on you and yelled surrender because you were digging out the basement at midnight. You always were a night owl. Many nights we would all sit in the kitchen of your old house and just talk and talk and talk. I would give anything just to have one one of these nights back. I love you so much Nan and I'm so thankful for the memories you have given me. Its not goodbye Nan its until we see each other again.
