So sorry to hear about the passing above this wonderful man.
A long time ago, Gord ran the gas station at the Woodgrove Chevron in the Nanaimo. Gord hired me to do the afternoon shifts. And Gord always did the morning shifts. I was a teenager back then. So we had many great talks, and many of them about God. Gord was always a very fair man. And probably one of my favorite bosses of all time. He was fair, kind, straightforward and honest. And he always had a good joke to tell. I know he will be sadly missed by his friends and family. He was a devoted family man back then, and I'm sure he was up to his last days.
We all loved you, Gordie.

I reconnected with Gord at the 2012 Greenwood Reunion. He convinced me to go skydiving in the summer of 2013. I had major reservations but decided to conquer one fear and went for it and have never regretted it! I had always wanted to go to the Bahamas to feed the sharks. I invited Gord but he declined. This February I had the chance to swim with sharks in the Dominican Republic. Afterwards I was thinking about Gord and how I would be able to share the video of my swimming with the sharks with Gord. I got back to the cruise ship that day to learn of his passing. It hit hard.

My condolences to you all. Gord was a wonderful person and a true family man. We spent many hours in the boiler room talking about family and cooking! I remember when Leicia was in giving birth and he brought her the "boiler room café menu" and breakfast. The next thing we knew the some nurses were looking for the boiler room café because the menu looked so good.
When my daughter was born he had to be the first to get her a gift so he went to the gift store and bought here her first stuffy.
Gord was always a jester and a true gentleman simultaneously. He took me stripe bass fishing, invited us over on pizza nights, and was the first person I had to go run and tell when I got my first teaching position.

We are so saddened to hear of (John's) cousin Gord's passing, we send our deepest condolences to Deb and to Gord's children and grandchildren.
Although we didn't spend at lot of time together growing up, we felt we knew Gord well from his engaging, often humorous, Facebook posts sharing his culinary, gardening and many other skills. It was obvious how much he loved his wife and family and was so proud of them all. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

One of the kindest guys I’ve known. Such a big heart. Always enjoyed seeing his incredible dinners as he always took photos of the ingredients!….could never figure out….why the giraffe????!!! Maybe somebody will tell me! I always meant to ask! I live on Vancouver Island, BC…..soooo far away. Wish I could be there to attend a service for Gordon. First time I ever saw him was from afar….that gorgeous blonde life guard at the outdoor pools in Greenwood!….me a young teenager….we all just wanted to lay in the sun when he was life guarding…”maybe he’ll notice me!” Hahahaha! That was the first time I saw Gordon….looking like a surfing god guy with a tanned long back and the sun bouncing off his blonde long hair! Never knew him back then….just from afar! Since meeting him as a mature older woman and getting to know him through his Facebook posts I knew he loved skydiving….and of course….cooking those amazing meals for his wife! Such a lucky woman to have had a long life with Gordon and I always felt he loved his entire family dearly by his family Facebook posts! Geez….I had no idea he was unwell at all. He hid it well from his Facebook friends at large. My deepest sympathy for everyone in the family. Stand together….hold each other up….carry Gordon forward in your hearts.

I was very sorry to hear of Gord's passing. I knew Gord from Greenwood back in the day, and have fond memories of most of the people Gord knew.
I have a story that is a memory of those days which he was part of.
We both had VW bugs, and blew the engines up around the same time.
Gord had more money than I, as he bought a new one from CTC.
So, we came to a deal that I would help him change his and I could have his old. We had found that we destroyed different areas of our motors.
Teenage stuff!
My condolences to all who enjoyed Gord.
He was a great guy that all loved.

Gord who is one of my many first cousins took me to my one and only pro hockey game in Vancouver years ago during university. He wins the trophy for dragging his non-hockey cousin to a game to broaden her horizons.
He came out to Ontario to visit with my mom when she was terminally ill. We have a photo of him in ON standing on the front porch with all of us before he said good-bye to her. I just don't have the photo with me. He talked and visited and showed his caring by his actions. I last saw him at our grandfather's funeral. I always felt Gord was non-judgemental and I appreciated this. I know he had a big welcome from my mom yesterday. Love and prayers to Deb and family, RIck, Wendy and family, and Cindy and family.
