Please share a memory of Marina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness, but a bit of relief, that we announce the peaceful passing of Anna “Marina” Carmichael, after a six-year battle with dementia on Friday, June 17, 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with her devoted son Jamie by her side. Born November 16, 1934 in Walton, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Leila (MacLellan) Burgess. Marina worked in nursing for 35 years, having worked at the Grace Maternity Hospital, Payzant Memorial Hospital and Hants Community Hospital; from where she retired. She was always ready to go on an adventure with Carl. Marina was a member of the Friendship Group at St. Croix United Church and she enjoyed her many walks with Donna Edwards and the late Joan Gibson. Marina is survived by her son, Jamie; sisters, Edna Porter and Elsie Hartlin; half-brother, Blaine Patterson. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her step-father, Clifford Patterson; her husband of 64 years, Carl C. Carmichael (April 29, 2021); sisters, Julia Wile, Lilly Merritt, Peggy MacDonald; brothers, Frank and Harris “Bob” Burgess and half-brother, Leslie “Les” Patterson. Many thanks and appreciation to her nephew, Russell Burgess and his son, James; as well as family friends, Harden and Donna Wile and their daughters, Claire and Chloe, for all their support and care. Thank you to Grand View Manor and Valley Regional Hospital for their exceptional care given to Marina. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, June 23, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Donations in memory of Marina may be made to Grace United Church, 4197 Walton Woods Rd., Walton, NS B0N 2R0 or a charity of one’s choice.
