Gloria Gibson

Obituary of Gloria Irene Gibson

Please share a memory of Gloria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gloria died peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, June 15, 2022 in Halifax Infirmary Site, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Three Mile Plains on June 8, 1933 she was a daughter of the late William and Sarah (Whitehead) Caldwell.

She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and the most amazing baker you would ever know. Her delicious pies, egg tarts and bread were particular favourites. She was humble, kind, strong, resilient and loved to have a laugh. Gloria was born and raised in Three Mile Plains and lived in Newport Station for many years before moving to Windsor in her final years.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Rae (John), Julia, Janice (Ted), Jim (Pat), Kathy (Myles), Scott and Cory (Amy). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Michelle, Matthew (Amy), Marcy (Makyle), Shawn (Suraya), Samantha, Tyler, Megan, Ally, Myles (Mireille), Ryan, Maya and Elliott and her great-grandchildren, Johnny, Isadora, Isaac and Ella. She will also be greatly missed by her sister, Jennie (Dean); sister-in-law and special friend, Carol and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her husband, James “Jim” Gibson; daughter, Patsy; granddaughter, Sarah; grandson-in-law, Paul; brothers, Frank, Ross, Cecil, Ben and Douglas Caldwell; sisters, Caroline Garland and Joyce Kelly. She was also predeceased by half-brothers, Ralph and Donald Whitehead and half-sister, Catherine.

After raising her own family, Gloria looked after four other children, Dougal, Ian, Duncan and Gail who along with their parents, Karen and Jamie, always held a special place in her heart.

We would like to thank the Staff of the Emergency Department of the QEII Health Sciences Centre who showed so much compassion and kindness.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a service celebrating Gloria’s life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, Rev.
