So many fond memories of Emerson, especially those growing up on the South Side, and spending so much time at their house with Stacey. I always felt so welcome and at home...he and Gail always made sure there was an extra place at the table for those who showed up...especially on Tbone steak night! He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell a good story. He never let me forget the refried beans fiasco in Florida...remember that Stacey? Emerson was truly a kind, good hearted man...he will be missed and never forgotten.

My condolences to my brother Emerson and his family, Gail, Deb and Steve, Stacey and sons and Scott and his family in the U.S. My heart goes out to you Gail at this sad time with the passing of Em, the love of your life, and so devoted to each other for almost 60 years in September. Our thanks to Deb for her care of Em and Gail as family distanced by Covid-19. Sorry our last family gathering for East to meet West was cancelled due to the Tornado which hit Ottawa in 2018. When I spoke to Em on the phone lately he was always so upbeat and loved to chat. He will be greatly missed by us all. Gail I wish you and your family Love, peace and healing.

Deb, Gail & Family,
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I'm so grateful to have had the chance to 'hang out' and chat with Emerson a few times over the years. He certainly made a lasting impression as a good humored and kind person, looking out for others (much like our Deb) and always ready with a story to share. Sending Lots of Love, Jenn

Em's family...
Your father was an exceptional human being...we have so many wonderful memories with that man. One, when Em ran out of gas on the highway and the cat on South Side road answered the phone, he just rolled with it, if I recall, I think he hitched hiked home too? I've never seen anybody gum boot it across the yard so fast when he uncovered a hornet's nest while replacing boards on a well at Patton road. Or the thrill of going backwards down a steep slope on his lawn tractor...scary, but exhilerating at the same time, also on Patton road. We hand dug many ditches, for drainage, tree roots and deck posts over the years and I still use the hand shovel today that Em graciously gave me and I think fondly of him every time I use it. We had many fires at the fire pit on Patton road...one memorable evening we burnt oak staves from an old swish barrel, and the multitude of swirling colours coming from that fire was absolutely fascinating!
Em was a loving caring soul, it was a privilege spending part of my life with him...
My heart goes out to his family.
Ian

Aunt Gail, Deb & Steve, Stacy & Sons, Scott and Family,
We are deeply sorry about your loss and we know Emerson had a very special place in your hearts. We will always cherish our beautiful memories of him when he and Aunt Gail welcomed us with open arms to stay at their place, when our family took a trip to the East Coast. He was thrilled to share with us the best places to eat lobster and seafood. He had fond family stories to share with us. He was a lovely uncle we will hold dear, in our hearts. Sending you thoughts of light, love and healing.

Dear Aunt Gail, Deb & Steve, Stacey & Sons, Scott & Family,
Please know our hearts are with you during this difficult time. Your husband/dad will be missed by countless people. He was so ready to help, so quick with a story (or a few) and so open and eager to share his joy in living and in company. I learned a lot from him. I am thankful for all he taught me, and especially about how to find fun in errands and make every day an adventure!
He will be greatly missed.

Emerson was truly a very special man that I had the pleasure of knowing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always knew how to make us smile. He was the first one to offer help when he saw someone in need. He loved all of you so much and was very proud of his family. Emerson left a permanent imprint on the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. I will always remember how compassionate and warm he was. I know that no matter where you are, he will always be watching over you. We are going to miss him greatly. Krista xo
