To Bruce's family - I am so sorry to have learned about Bruce's passing. I haven't looked for him since the late 80's, when I stopped riding, and moved away. Now that I'm being bitten by the bug to ride again, I was looking to reach out, to say hello and ask for his great advice. In the few short years that I knew him, I found that he was always very helpful, kind, encouraging, and me being a teen rider, he was a wonderful person to know. Back in 1985, I bought a Yamaha DT-125 from Bruce. I was 15 years old. I learned so much about riding on that little bike. It was perfect. There is nothing like having just barely enough power in a bike, that it forces you to really hone your skills if you want to make it up that big hill or pop out of a turn, in the dirt, while everyone else around you relies on the excess power of an MX bike to carry them through. I think it was one of the best bikes one could own for learning and building skills. After that purchase, all of my friends in New Minas started buying dirt bikes and most of us got to know Bruce and his great mechanic, Dave - who raced 3 wheelers. Every one of us, as teens riding in the 3 sand pits in New Minas, all looked up to Bruce and Dave. Sometimes we were lucky enough to catch Dave riding in the pits and up big hills. We'd sit on our bikes and just watch in awe. I used to talk with Bruce about how much I loved riding through the woods and felt I was more of an Enduro rider than an MX guy. My second bike was a 1984 Yamaha IT200. It was amazing! Well, one day while riding between the pits, I came across Bruce, who was in the middle of some really rough enduro ride with some tough and technical terrain. It was some kind of race, I think. Until then, when I saw him, I had no idea that dirt bikes could even be ridden where he was taking his bike. He was working his way down and then up some steep, muddy, treed, winding, dicey looking path, that I'm pretty sure was just freshly made. I was amazed. He was very busy, in the middle of trying to hold his bike up with gas and a foot on the ground, in some muddy rut, trying to get up and around some tree - and then he stopped. He saw me! He waved for me to join in the ride, and even yelled to me to join them. I rode as close to his path that I could get, hemmed and hawed, then chickened out, but only because of where Bruce was riding - it looked impossible! He was a great rider, for sure! On that day, I gained a whole new level of respect for his off-road riding. I always had wished that I had taken him up on that ride. I felt great that he invited me to join them on whatever that ride was, even though I didn't join them. I'm sorry that I missed him before his passing. I do have great memories of him being someone that us neighbourhood dirt bike kids all looked up to and respected.

Saddened to hear of Bruce's death. He was a funny, kind, generous man. His love of motorcycles filled his life (and garage). I will treasure his friendship forever.

Connie and family,
Firstly, our sincere condolences for your loss. I can't imagine how tough it must be. Bruce was quiet but at the same time, he had a huge personality.
I thought allot about what to write and the best thing I can come up with is to share some stories of Bruce. So here goes...
- The only guy still wearing his helmet when we stop for a break on a trail ride. Did he bring water or snacks for a 6 hour trail ride? Nope, no water nor any snacks and he never took off his helmet until he was done riding for the day.
- He would be leading a ride and when he thought that everyone had a few minutes to rest, without saying anything, he would walk over to his bike, start it and head out. Everyone else threw on their gear and took off after him because we didn't know where we were.
- The only guy that would bring a measuring cup with him to mix oil and gas at the trailhead. When asked why he did it that way "I don't trust the measurement marks on the oil bottle".
- Bruce, does Connie ever get upset that she can't park in the garage because there are too many motorcycles in there and a few of them are in pieces being worked on (and smell like gas)? "Well, I figure she's used to it by now".
- Once, we were riding with a small group on a trial that Bruce made and he said "stay over to the right of these trees, there is a guy that lives over there in the woods that doesn't like us riding on his property but we have permission to ride over here". Sure enough, we come out of the woods about 10 minutes later and there is some guy with no shirt on, barefoot, with a dog the size of a wolf standing at the end of his driveway watching us. Good times and we had a good laugh.

So very sorry to hear of your loss Connie and family. I am Kay Gould's daughter, Thecla. I live in B.C. and I have heard such great things about you and your family. What you and Bruce have done to Granddads house is unbelievable! I have seen many pictures. Both you and Bruce showed so much talent in restoring my most favorite house of all time. I actually was considering buying it at one point because I didnt want to see it leave the family so was very happy to hear that you and Bruce bought it. Just wanted to say again how very sorry I was to hear of Bruce's passing.

Connie I was very saddened to read of Bruce having passed. He crossed my mind a couple of days ago, and I wondered how he was doing. After many years of not seeing him I had the good fortune of speaking with him at several Vintage MC events. He always brought a smile with good humor, and a purpose of belonging wherever he was. A true gentleman. You both were so blessed and fortunate to have shared a life well lived. I know your memories shall bring peace and comfort though this difficult time. Although I did not know your children I know that his legacy shall be with them. Bless you all. Mac

Please accept my deepest respect and condolences with Bruce’s passing.
He and I were classmates at QEH back in the 60s. Bruce usually sat beside me in class at the front of the room for obvious reasons. He was very interested in motorcycles and just about everything else. He will be missed by many family and friends.

Connie and Family.
I just heard about Bruce’s passing this morning. I did not know he was ill! I saw him not long ago at Pro Cycle. I hadn’t seen him in a while, but we broke into conversation as if we saw each other daily as old friends do. I have a lot of great memories of our days at Debert and Pennfield NB. The old shop in New Minas and the one in Port Williams.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him! So sorry for your loss.
