We have fond memories of Joan, she was a beautiful lady inside and out. I enjoyed her piano playing and her beautiful smile. Darryl was a student Pastor when we were at Newport Baptist Church, Joan had such encouraging words for him and Rollie always had a story and his charm.

We will miss Joan so very much. We would pop down to the house to have tea and pie with both Rolie & Joan in times past and most recently would see her at the Gladys Manning for music nights. We're also responsible for the Christmas Tree Repair Kit they received one year for Christmas (after Warren had damaged the top of their tree). What a fun couple. Joan always had a twinkle in her eye and, although she looked so innocent, she could always make some mischief. So very sorry for your loss. May your many memories be a comfort to you all. She was a wonderful, kind and loving person.

I am at a lost for words. She was such a lovely lady & my husband & I are so glad that we were apart of her family. To say my heart is breaking over the loss of Auntie Joan is an understatement. I remember the first time I saw her; she and Rollie had come to babysit my brother, sister and I. She wore a long red-ribboned ponytail and a poodle skirt with what seemed like a gazillion crinolines underneath. I thought she was absolutely beautiful...and from that night on, I loved her. Over the years she became much more than an aunt to me... she became a wise, wonderful and supportive friend. She was so very dedicated to my Uncle Roland for her entire marriage... never complaining, always quietly in the background until he became outrageous in act or deed and then she wasn't against giving him the wisdom of her opinion. RIP my darling Aunt. Know that you were and will always be loved. Give Uncle Rollie a kiss for me

Very sad to hear of Joan passed away. I loved going to visit Joan& Rollie at the house. Rollie said why even bother knocking. Rollie would ask me to get a couple of rabbits for Xmas dinner. We would chat for hours.
They were both very special people. I can hear rollie telling me if the fish are not cleaned take them back.

Oh sweet Joanie, how I loved you so. You were a wonderful nurse to me and a caring friend. Give Rollie a big kiss for me and tell him that “Billy” says hi.
My sincere condolences to the family. I’ve known Joanie since I was 9, I’m 45 now. I grew up in the ox barns and Rollie used to joke that I was a boy - he gave me the name Billy. When I was hospitalized under Joanie’s care, she didn’t know me by any other name. She wrote Billy on all of my charts. There are very few people in this world that I can claim to be as sincere and caring as Joanie. She will be missed.
