Tanya and I connected on Facebook 2 or 3 years ago - thanks to a common interest in - and passion for - Nova Scotia. We were to meet during one of my visits to the province - I was over last October, for just one week, and there was no time for me to include a trip to the Valley - Tanya had asked if we would be able to meet and I had had to say that, unfortunately, it would not be possible on this occasion. In turn, I had asked her if she would still be ok for us to meet during the next trip - and she had said that it would fine of course. I deeply regret not having made the time last October and wish I had got to know her - I am sure we would have discovered many more common areas of interest.
My most sincere condolences to her family and friends.

I was so saddened to learn of Tanya's passing. My condolences to her family. She cared so much for all of you. Her illness was so sudden and difficult. I was so awed by her strength, respect for all, and ability to keep her values as she had to deal with the pain and impact on her body of the cancer.
She contributed a lot to the Health Board, both through her work with various organizations, but also her commitment to ensuring it ran well. She dealt with challenges honourably and respectfully. Her positive impact on the board continues. She and I found one time to go together to take pictures. I am so glad we did. I learned a lot about her approach and her. Her humbleness and dignity shine through. She'll be very much missed.

Tanya and I went to high school together and were friends. Over the last few years we reconnected and I was always happy to start my day by seeing her beautiful photos that she would regularly post on her Facebook page.
She was so thoughtful and caring and would regularly send me articles that she knew would be of interest to me. I always found that very touching.
I, along with so many, was devastated to hear of her passing. I will always remember her for her kindness and her creative soul.
Rest In Peace my friend.
Gina

I had the pleasure and privilege of being Tanya’s teacher in 2 adult education programs, through the Valley Community Learning Association (VCLA). In May last year, Tanya was given the William and Lucille Owen Award for her achievements as an adult learner. She was a strong role model and inspiration for other adult learners, and a very fitting representative for VCLA’s work. I was very proud of her.
With her classes, Tanya naturally assumed a leadership role. She always put her best foot forward and committed to get the most out of the programs. She was very kind to others, and willing to help out in any way she could. She would often speak up on behalf of other people. The Cornerstone program is designed to prepare people to give client-centred care and support, to seniors or people with disabilities, either in their homes or in care facilities. I was inspired by the way Tanya put her heart and soul into every day with that program. She proved herself to be reliable and trustworthy, with a strong dedication to pursuing success. At the end of the program when she was hired, she was very proud to take on her role to provide support and care to others.
I know that Tanya was proud of the contributions she made to our community through her volunteering with SOUP, and with the Community Health Board. She was also very artistic, as demonstrated by her paintings and her photographs, and her flare for dressing. I have a series of paintings that she did for a project, which she gave to me afterwards. I treasure them.
Tanya was not intimidated by other people and had the courage to stand up for herself and those close to her. She showed others she cared about them by the way she behaved and the things she said. She demonstrated that her team mates could count on her.
Tanya was not one to give up easily. I am sure her family saw that side of her as she faced her cancer. She often spoke of her children – how much she loved them and how proud she was of them. My heart goes out to Liam and Brianna as they deal with losing their mother. She was a very special person.

It was with great sadness that I read that dear Tanya had passed. I had no idea she was ill. I had seen her in Mic Mac Mall several months back. We exchanged hugs and thought we should get together. If she was ill then she never said a word. I would have not missed her service but had no idea. It does seem surreal.
I have fond memories of Tanya. I will always remember her great laugh. Tanya was a dear sweet soul. She has not gone, she has merely slipped her mortal bonds, and now continues on with the rest of her journey. RIP sweet Tanya.

David, Kay, Brianna, Liam, Joel and family, my heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow. A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on. Losing someone we love is never easy, but we must be thankful for the beautiful moments and memories we shared with them. Tanya was a beautiful and kind soul, and she will not be forgotten. Every time you miss her, search in your heart, there you can feel her, be with her and embrace her. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
