Obituary of Frances Jean Bickerton

It is with great sadness that the family announce her passing on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at the age of 87, in Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on March 26, 1931 in Scotch Village, she was the daughter of the late John and Marion (Cochrane) Barron.

Fran was a longtime teacher at Windsor Elementary School and she was also a faithful longtime member of Windsor United Church and the UCW. She loved to play bridge, knit, crochet and volunteer for numerous organizations. Upon retirement she and Bob enjoyed extensive travels around the world.

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob”, Falmouth; son, Tim, Maple Ridge, BC; daughters, Cathy (David) Lavers, Scotsburn; Barb (Bruce) VandenEykel, Maple Ridge, BC; Ruth (Glen) Adams, Digby; grandchildren, Carrie (Mike), Evan (Pam), Robert (Portia), Shawn (Sarah), Bridget, Zach (Chelsea), Emma (Parker) and Ben; great-grandchildren, Emerson, Rhyan, Brayden, Keira, Tatum, Leah and Jaxx.

Besides her parents, Fran was predeceased by grandson, Mark and brother, Ken Barron.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Windsor Elms Village for the wonderful, compassionate care Fran received during her stay there.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A meet and great with the family will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 followed by a funeral service celebrating Frans’s life at 2 p.m., all in Windsor United Church, 613 King St., Windsor, Rev. Bill Gibson and Rev. Karen Lynch officiating. A reception will follow in the Windsor United Church Annex. Family flowers only, by request.
