Aunt Violets passing comes with a heavy heart, yet wonderful memories of her wrap our hearts with warmth and light. I have many fond memories of Aunt Violet cooking or baking while telling wonderful stories in her kitchen. She was always warm, kind and loving. She will be missed.

Violet was the Best Mother-in-law a girl could have! Thoughout the last 44 years that I knew Violet, I was constantly impressed by the love, energy, and courage this wonderful woman possessed! She always made people feel welcome in her home. I know there was magic in her kitchen, because she could feed 20 people with a wave of her spoon! It's been a lifelong goal of mine to be just half as good a woman, mother, worker, friend and Mother-in-law as she was. I fear that I failed miserably....but she was a tough act to follow! Love and Miss you alway Mom Gates!

So sorry to hear of Violet's passing. She was such a special lady and over the years have always enjoyed every
time we had a chance to have a good chat and many laughs. While Mum was at Mountain Lea Lodge, Donnie and Violet were in the room just across the hall and we always dropped in to see how they were doing as well. Hard to believe they have both gone on now but they weren't separated for long and are now once again together.
Thinking of all the families at this difficult time and we want you all to know that we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Our deepest sympathy.

Never underestimate the impact of kindness given to a child. It has been many years, but I will always remember Violet opening her home to me while my mother moved our family back from Ontario. I was only 4 years old, but I will always remember her, and the home that she made feel as my own.
