Obituary of Gerald Alcide Jank

Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JANK, Gerald Alcide "Jerry" Jer, born in Montreal and being a scorpio, was a stubborn, determined, strong willed person who was creative beyond his young years. At the age of 16, he started working in custom metals in Old Montreal. In the years that followed, he moved in 1993 to Nova Scotia with his wife to a 90 acre property in Port Lorne. He was a person of many talents creating metal sculpture, painting, photography and enjoyed #freestyle cooking. His art consisted of reclaimed wharf pins, stone from the shore and many crystals. He loved going for walks along the shore, collecting materials to use in his sculptures. Jerry also was someone who donated much of his time to fundraising events in Windsor, being an avid supporter of the Hants Community Hospital Auxiliary. He will be truly missed by many family, friends and furbabies, Baili, Chloe, Griffin and Keiko. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joyce; children, Jason (Carolyn) Coulombe and Karen Coulombe; niece and nephews, Jennifer and Andrew; and very close friends, Annie and Bill. Jerry was a free spirit, loving nature, living to the fullest and enjoying every moment. One of his favourite songs was "The End" by The Doors: "This is the end beautiful friend This is the end, my only friend, the end. Of our elaborate plans, the end. Of everything that stands, the end…" Fly free spirit, fly! Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A funeral service celebrating Jerry's life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 13 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Kevin Cox officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre. Donations in memory of Jerry may be made to Hants Community Hospital Auxiliary, 89 Payzant Dr., Windsor, NS B0N 2T0.
