Obituary of Eric Whidden Smith

Age 86, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 13, 2015 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Eric was a son of the late William G. and Eva C. (Eye) Smith (Hantsport); brother of the late Walter G. and Fred Smith and Margaret Hazelton. He was very active in his church and community and very knowledgeable in Hantsport history and its people. Eric enjoyed antique cars and was an avid fan of Chryslers. He served as Past Master (twice) and Secretary of Poyntz Lodge No. 44 in Hantsport; a member of The Shore Lodge No. 134; served as Past District Chaplain of Hants County District and Past High Priest of the Hiram Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in Windsor. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia (Cross); sons, Chris (Roz) and Dwight; grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff), Ben (Tia), Amber (Marvin), Jessica and Rhianna (Dustin); great grandchildren, Soel, Nevaeh, Mila and Cannon Carriere, River and Nova Redisky and Marabel Morales, all of Calgary. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A memorial service celebrating Eric's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 18 in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 59 Main St., Hantsport, Father Tom Henderson officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eric's memory may be made to St. Andrew's Anglican Church, PO Box 52, Hantsport, NS B0P 1P0.
