Obituary of Bruce Lindsay Isaac

Age 55, of Falmouth, Hants Co., passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born April 27, 1958 in Ajax, Ont., he was the son of the late Doug and Betty (Jones) Isaac.Bruce joined the military at age 18 and served in the navy for eight years, which gave him an opportunity to travel the world. During that time he served as a peacekeeper in the UN in 1982. In 1987 he married Betty (MacDonell). He completed his grade 12 and took courses at MSVU before earning a certificate of computer programming in Newfoundland. Bruce returned to Nova Scotia in 1991 and owned his own computer business for several years. He joined the Corps of Commissionaires and worked in Halifax, Hants Community Hospital and most recently Camp Aldershot. Previously he was also a volunteer firefighter with the Brooklyn Fire Department. He was a very social person who loved to spend time with friends and family. His passions were computers and electronics as well as music of which he was an avid collector.Besides his wife, Elizabeth "Betty," he is survived by his sons, Michael (Jenna MacDonald) and Joseph; brothers, Allen (Marion) Burgess, Langley, BC; John Isaac (Janet Howarth), Kingston, Ont. and Ralph Isaac, Vancouver, BC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred MacDonell, Belnan; Gerry MacDonell (Doreen Gallagher), Belnan; Joanne (David) Blom, Calgary; Susan (Bruno) Timpano, Penticton; Cathy (Chris) Kennedy, Halifax; Archie (Mary) MacDonell, Belnan; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his daughter in infancy, Lindsay Marie (1989).Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 pm Sunday, April 6. A service celebrating Bruce’s life will take place 3 p.m., Monday, April 7, in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Center. Private family burial will be held in Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bruce may be made to the Hants Community Hospital Palliative Care, 89 Payzant Drive, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 or Canadian Cancer Society, 5826 South St., Halifax, NS B3H 1S6.
