When the sign marking Stoney Hill Cemetery in Lockhartville, manufactured by Sam's Metal Works was put in place three years ago it was quoted as being a visible reminder of a deep history associated with this area. To me it will forever be a cherished reminder of Sam, of the joy working with him and of the respect felt for him. He strived to make it as near perfect as possible. Earl, Mytle, Mort, Bev, Amanda & families: So sorry to hear about Sam. I remember that pony of his -- we used to race our ponies & mine always (ahem!) won. At least that's what I told Sam as an adult & he always went along. We had lots of fun as children & many good times as adults as well - bluegrass festivals, tobagganing on his self-designed, welded-together sled (not one of his best inventions, I might add), x-country skiing with Lois & Jeff, touring on his motorbike, fishing & camping, and my favourite memory of them all -- cruising around in that homemade car of his, "The Veep" (which, without fail, would break down when we were 10 miles back in the woods!). My deepest sympathy to you all; you're in my thoughts during this time of sadness.
