Obituary of Krystal Kay Norman

Please share a memory of Krystal to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with broken hearts and overwhelming sadness that we announce the loss of Krystal Kay Norman, 37, of Center Burlington. She passed unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

Krystal was born in Halifax, on May 6, 1987, to Dinah Rivard and the late Gordon “Gordie” Norman. She was a graduate of Avon View High School. After high school Krystal moved to St. John’s where she completed veterinary assistant training. She went on to work in a variety of animal related fields including pet stores and animal grooming. During her years living in Newfoundland, Krystal created many wonderful memories and built many beautiful relationships. In 2020, Krystal came back to Nova Scotia so that her children could be closer to her Nova Scotia family.

A passionate animal lover, one of Krystal’s favourite pastimes was scouring local trails, lakes and rivers in search of whatever wildlife she could find; a passion that she has passed down to and shared with her children. If Krystal was late for anything you could rest assured that it was because she had stopped on the side of the road to rescue a variety of injured animal; from birds to turtles to porcupines to eagles.

Krystal was at home in nature and loved spending her time with her children and Jonny camping in the backyard, clam digging, swimming at the local quarry, or just sitting around the fire pit playing her guitar. The only things she loved more than nature was her children, her family and her many pets.

Another favorite pastime of Krystal was spending time playing her guitar and singing, whether alone in her solitude or at family gatherings.

When someone was in crisis Krystal could be always counted on to be there with a compassionate heart or her off beat sense of humor. This loss leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all her family and her friends.

Krystal leaves behind three beautiful children, Hayden (11), Hayley (10) and Norah (8). She is also survived by her fiancé, Jonny Carrier; her mother, Dinah Rivard; her sisters, Tammy (Ken) Grant, Kayla (Dustin) Norman, Debra (Andrea) Norman, Kari Norman; her brothers, Bill (Anne Marie) Rivard, Michael Norman; and many loved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Gordon “Gordie” Norman.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 7 in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre.
