Obituary of Fannie Irene Harvey

Please share a memory of Fannie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Age 98, of McKay Section, Hants Co., passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on August 2, 1925, at Grand Elm Farm, McKay Section, Fannie Irene Harvey was a daughter of the late J. Murdock and Fannie (Dill) Harvey.

Irene lived her whole life on the farm where she was born. She often quoted her father as saying that it was the best place in the whole world. She had a long career working in the business office of the Payzant Memorial Hospital and Hants Community Hospital. She was also a member of the Newport United Church and the UCW.

Irene loved family and having fun. She greatly enjoyed having gatherings with family and with her many long-time friends and attending special family events. She was a loving and engaged aunt to her nephew and nieces and their families. Over the years she attended countless school concerts, music recitals, graduations, dance and skating competitions and 4-H events. Many birthdays were celebrated with cakes decorated by Irene and no one ever left the farm table hungry if she was around. Irene had a green thumb and kept family well supplied with flowers and tomato plants. There was nothing she enjoyed more than a good game of cards and she remained a keen player right up to the end of her life. We strongly suspect she is currently enjoying a rousing game of Auction 45 with her siblings in heaven.

Irene is survived by her brothers, Howard (Beverley) and Rod (Linda Benedict); nephew, Will (Cathy) Mounce; nieces, Leslie (Richard) Hamilton, Sarah (Garry) Hart, Genevieve Harvey (Tim Rissesco), Carolyn (Ron) Crawford and Melissa Harvey; grandnephews and grandnieces, Dr. Tanya (Tyson) Wood, Alisha Mounce, Laura Mounce, Evan (Laura) Mounce, Austen Mounce, Lynden Mounce, Jeremy (Kelton) Hamilton, Tyus Hamilton, Trey Hamilton, Raymond Hart, Rachael Hart, Owen Rissesco, Neil Rissesco and Ella Crawford; great-grandnieces, Jadyn Mounce, Lilia, Alena and Mayah Wood and great-grandnephews, Elliot Mounce, Jasper and Izaiah Hamilton.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Annie, Winnifred and Ella Harvey and Ida (Bruce) Mounce; brothers, Harold, Willard and Herman (Mary) Harvey.

The family would like to express thanks to the caregivers of Northwood Home Care and the doctors and nurses at Hants Community Hospital for their compassionate and attentive care.
