Obituary of Judy Paulette McCullum

Please share a memory of Judy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With family by her side, Judy gracefully passed away, Friday, May 24, 2024 in the VG Site, QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Yarmouth on August 6, 1947, she was a beloved daughter of the late Ralph and Rhoda (Ernst) Lynch.

Judy met her husband, Doug, while working in the insurance industry. They married on March 28, 1981 and had an amazing life together. Judy spent the majority of her life dedicated to helping others. She was a volunteer at Hope Cottage for over 30 years, an active volunteer with Beacon House, Meals on Wheels and ElderDogs. Her family and friends were her world and she made sure everyone knew how much she loved them. You never said goodbye to Judy without a hug or kiss and saying “I love you”.

Judy loved flowers. She loved any occasion that meant she could send flowers, whether it was to family, friends, neighbours or to her favourite girls at the Medicine Shoppe.

She had a wonderful circle of girlfriends that regularly got together for themed tea parties, birthday celebrations or some pretty serious card games. Judy will be immensely missed at the annual family picnic in New Ross. The candy toss will no longer be the same.

Judy is survived by her stepson, Jonathon (Guylaine); grandson, Connor McCullum; sister-in-law and best friend, Elva (Donald) Lynch; nieces and nephews that she considered her children, Dawn Lee (Darren) Swinamer, Trevor (Corrie) Lynch, Brian (Tina) Lynch, Michael (Kim) Lynch, Debra (Vern) Lynch, Gary (Brenda) Lynch, Paulette (Larry) Fischer, Donna Dean; and her younger children (great and great-great nieces and nephews); her devoted fur baby, Gracie Lou and lots of cousins that she loved beyond words.

Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her husband, Doug McCullum; brothers, Donald, Cyril (Myrtle) Lynch, Wayne and Gerald (in infancy); sister, Pauline (Donald) Smith.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the VG Palliative Unit and Darlene Langille and Dr. Flinn for all the care, support and attention they provided Judy and family.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317) where a celebration of Judy’s vibrant life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 10, 2024, Rev.
