Obituary of Dorothy Mabel Smith

Age 86, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2023 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born February 13, 1937 in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Frederick “Fred” and Mary (Harvie) Smith. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Dorothy is survived by sons, David (Debbie), Wayne (Charlotte-Ann), Kevin (Susan) Ettinger; daughter, Donna (Blaine) Eldridge; grandchildren, Amber, Marley and Kevin Jr.; great-grandchildren, Payton, Zoey, Elijah and Brooklyn.

Besides her parents, mom was predeceased by brothers, Richard, Palmer and Kenneth; sisters, Shirley Cornies, Leota Davidson and Marie Wiston.

Mom was a special lady who raised her children on her own. She was a woman of faith, love and strength, who taught her children the values of life. We will miss her.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317). A graveside committal service will be held on Friday, May 12 at 11 a.m., in Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King St., Windsor. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1 p.m. in Harvest House, 101 Stannus Street, Windsor, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to Harvest House Community Outreach, PO Box 903, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0.
