Obituary of Grant MacDonald Northup

Please share a memory of Grant to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with extremely heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Grant Northup on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the age of 82, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Stanley, he was a son of the late Roy and Esther (Ward) Northup.

Grant worked for many years at Palmers and Ettinger's Saw Mills. Later, he and his wife, Irene, moved to Ontario but moved back home six months later to be near their families.

Grant had many other jobs over the years but retired from the Town of Windsor after 19 years of dedicated service. He was very particular on appearances, especially his yard and you could see him out doing something in his yard every day. Grant loved spending time with his family, the grandchildren and great- grandchildren always put a smile on his face and laughter in his heart. Some of Grant's other passions were painting, washer toss, country music, animals, apple pie, going for trips to Tim Hortons, Fords and his Montreal Canadiens.

He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Irene; son, Michael (Delores); daughters, Grace (Roy) and Pamela (Mitch); grandchildren, Tamara (Gordon), Austin, Shane (Kate), Cody (Hannah), Christian (Julia) and great-grandchildren, Logan, Athena, Braunwynn, Norah and Lena; brothers, Eric (Joyce), Howard (Debbie) and Garnet, sisters, Marguerite (Ron) and Marie (John); and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Grant was predeceased by son, Dean; brothers, Harold, Irving and Claude; sisters, Geraldine and Flossie.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Dykeland Lodge for the care and comfort they had given to Grant.
