We are deeply sorry for the passing of your husband and father. Allan was as much a part of our family, as I cannot remember a time when he wasn't part of our lives through the family businesses. He was an honorable man that showed much thoughtfulness and kindness to those around him. He will be missed.

Your father volunteered to assist me with my post retirement start-up, as I could not afford paying a chartered accountant.
He dedicated so much time and provided TheraPBios PHARMA with a flawless book keeping service for over six years. He also always gave me some good advice, and we had so many long conversations trying to understand and solve the world's problems.
I do not know where to start explaining how kind, special, respectful,
and accommodating your father was. Just spending all that time with
him made me a better person by just watching the level of his personal
integrity, composition and how genuinely well he treated everybody around him.
What a great loss to humanity, not having Allan as a part of us any more. He will certainly be missed by so many.
MAY THE ALMIGHTY ALLAH GIVE HIM A GOOD REST. HE CERTAINLY HAS EARNED HIS RIGHTFUL PLACE IN ALLAH"S JANNAH.
My most Sincere Condolences to the family. Abbey Kirumira

To Rae, the boys and family, our sincere sympathy. Like many of Al's friends we too mourn the fact that we will no longer bump into him to chat at Sobey's or in the parking lot.
I worked in the same office as Al for over 10 years, and he never changed. Always a gentleman, always witty, and that personality that made people relax the moment he began chatting. All walks of life interacted with Al, and everyone was treated with the same calm respect he had for people.
A week before Al's death, Dale and I were driving to New Minas and something sparked the memory I had of singing "pardon me Roy" to the old Glenn Miller tune. My husband said you do know that the correct song is "pardon me boy"? But I remember the take on Chattanooga Choo Choo that Al often sung..."Pardon me Roy...is that the cat that chewed your new shoes?" Simple but wonderful humour and fun that Al heard and claimed as his own version of the song.
I am very grateful for his years of friendship, mentoring and being a great example of working hard and yet enjoying life and those around you. His obituary picture is the perfect memory of Al working away in the midst of stacks of papers and yet time to joke with his glasses upside down.
A truly genuine person, he will be missed. Our thought and prayers are with you.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Allan for over 20 years and when I saw the photo the family chose for his obituary, it brought back many memories of walking into his office and seeing his glasses on upside down or hanging down by his ear. The man was always surrounded by paper and there was always something “Red Wings” displayed. This is how I will forever remember him.
Allan was an incredible person — I witnessed many, many occasions when he helped people with personal tax issues, estate questions, wills, etc. He was a fountain of solid information and never hesitated to assist when asked.
He had an amazing sense of humour and had many stories to tell. He was very witty and loved to tease. We had so much fun in that office, but somehow, always managed to get the work done.
In a small office, you get to know and understand the people who work there. Allan was a dependable and supportive co-worker. He never missed a day, even if the snow was deep and heavy.
He was a very humble man and showed kindness to everyone.
I enjoyed our many lunches together, sometimes with the Gertridge’s, sometimes with Lovitt Bishop and then sometimes, just us.
Allan, your life was well lived and it was an honour to have had the opportunity to spend time with you over the years. RIP, dear friend.
To Rae, Brett, Matthew and family, please accept my sincere condolences. He truly was a wonderful man.

Dear Matt, Brett and Aunt Rae,
We are so sad for your loss. Uncle Allan and Aunt Rae were always a pillar for what we refer to as the "Nova Scotia Keepings". The family gatherings at your house in Ellershouse are some of our favourite family memories...and is always referenced as Mark's first introduction to the Keeping clan (He met your Dad before he met mine!)...where he quickly learned that we like to have fiery conversations and long games of Scat.
You could always get good advice and gentle smiles from Uncle Allan. The door was always open, and I always felt welcome if I dropped in unexpectedly. He was very loved and will be greatly missed. Love you guys

I hate to say it but Uncle Allen and Aunt Ray were always of favorite of mine. Aunt Ray though me how to drive a standard before I bought my 1st car. Uncle Allen always did my taxes, drove me to the airport when I was headed home for vacations on numerous occasions. But most of all I shall miss going blueberry picking with him in Newfoundland. The times we had trying to get him down to a large patch of berries. He always seem to have more berries squashed on his pants than in his bucket. You will be missed Uncle. Deeply missed!
J

His special trips to Newfoundland in late August for the berries! I had no idea that you went with him Junior! I always just missed him, because I would be heading back to NS to get ready for the school to open in September. The number of times I heard, "Allan's coming home next week to go berry picking"...

Are those hair cut pictures from the Family reunion at Aunt Emma's? Mom and Uncle Allan look like they are having a blast...or maybe that he is being forced into that haircut and Mom is loving it. That family reunion was fun...I remember it, but I was super young...like maybe 9 or 10. I remember aunt Emma taking us out to the bingo hall one night...and everyone sleeping everywhere. Aunt Emma and Uncle Gerry still had their old house next door to the new house. Wish I could remember more!
