Obituary of Brenda Jane Hiltz

The battle is over but the victory is won. Brenda Jane (Walker) Hiltz, age 65, of Chester Basin, passed away peacefully at home, on Monday, January 9, 2023 with her loving husband, Rodney, by her side. Brenda was the daughter of Murray Walker, New Ross and the late Hilda (Rines) Walker.

Brenda was a dedicated and caring Nursing Assistant. She spent 36 years working at the Grace Maternity, Luneburg Hospital, Bridgewater Hospital and then Shoreham Village. She was loved and respected by the families, residence and co-workers alike. Her gentle spirit brought comfort to all. Brenda and Rodney spent countless hours at “The Lake.” It was the place where she found the most peace and contentment. 

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Rodney; father, Murray Walker; brother, David, New Ross; brother-in-law, Greg (Cindy), New Ross; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Bernie) MacDonald, Eastern Passage and Evelyn Hiltz, New Ross; niece, Victoria Carr and her mom, Joan Lenihan; nephew, Russ MacDonald. Over the years, Brenda often cared for children, Noah Stevens, held a very special spot in her heart.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 12 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel (masks are encouraged). A reception will be held in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 79, 64 Forties Rd, New Ross, starting at 1:00 pm. A private family burial will be held in the spring in Christ Anglican Church Cemetery, New Ross. Family flowers only, by request.
