Obituary of Lorraine Ruth McIntyre
Of Windsor, formerly of Saint John, NB, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with family by her side. Born on August 16, 1930, in Somerville, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Olive (Dee) McKay.
Lorraine graduated from the Saint John School of Nursing in 1953. She worked with the VON as well as an RN at Saint John General Hospital and then St. Joseph’s Hospital, until her retirement. She was a woman of faith, having been a member of St. Joachim’s Church in Saint John, NB, and the St. Thomas Anglican Church in Fall River.
She was an animal lover, having had many pets over the years. Lorraine loved to play Bridge and was an avid hockey fan, the Pittsburgh Penguins being her favourite team to cheer on. She enjoyed her daily walks and loved to chat with neighbours about the latest events. She kept in touch with many classmates from nursing school, neighbours from Saint John, and relatives from the United States. Lorraine loved and lived for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and sister, whose life journey revolved around caring for others.
Lorraine is survived by children, Jill (Rob Harvey) of Avondale, Jennifer (Ed) Skinner of Fall River, Peter of Alberta; grandchildren, Mark and Scott Freill, Brett and Nicholas Skinner, Joshua, Sara and Megan McIntyre.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, John; sister, Brenda London; brother, Ronald McKay.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be a private family Celebration of Life held at a later date. Burial will take place in Oceanview Memorial Gardens in Saint John, NB.
