Obituary of David R. Parsons

PARSONS, David Ralph - 93, of Hantsport, Hants Co., passed away peacefully Friday, January 4, 2013, as he had wished to do, at home in the comforts of his own surroundings. Born in St. John’s, Nfld., he was the son of the late William Ralph and Flora May (House) Parsons. David was brought up in Bay Roberts, Nfld., by his Aunt, Miss F. Parsons.David was part of the R.C.A.F. serving from 1940-1945 and he was a member of the Lucknow Branch, No. 109 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Hantsport. He graduated from Nova Scotia Technical College in 1950 and he worked for Minas Basin Pulp and Power as an Engineer for 30 years. David was also a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Hantsport and was a former warden.He is survived by his sons, John (Patricia), Lower Prospect; Peter (Susan), Chester; Jim (Shelley), Halifax; six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth G. (Christian); a brother in infancy and grandson, Geoffrey Parsons.The family would like to thank everyone who made it possible for David to remain at home until his passing.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service (Lohnes-DeMont Funeral Service Ltd.), 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 7. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 59 Main Street, Hantsport, Rev. Tom Henderson officiating. Private family burial will take place in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport with a reception to follow in the church hall.
