beloved mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend, age 74, of Falmouth, formerly of Alberta, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 17, 2022, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, after a brave battle with cancer. Born on August 2, 1947, in Drumheller, Alberta, she was a daughter of the late Blair and Elsie (Boughton) Smith.

Bonnie spent most of her life living in Edmonton, Alberta and frequently visited her family in Nova Scotia where she chose to spend the last months of her life making cherished memories. Bonnie was a fighter, she was strong and no matter what, she always put her family first. She loved to love and had a kind soul.

She was a hardworking individual who spent 30 plus years dedicated to her career as a security officer. Bonnie was adored by many who she worked with over the years at Petro-Canada and Suncor. She touched every person who crossed her path in a special way. Her smile could light up any room and her laugh was contagious, she had quite the sense of humor.

Bonnie was an exceptionally crafty and creative person. She filled her time learning and teaching others how to craft. She loved tole painting, diamond dots, crocheting, cross stitching, macrame and so much more. She enjoyed the simple things in life - a good Ukrainian meal, a cold Pepsi and her “scratchies” (scratch tickets). She also thrived at Bingo and loved electronics, she always had to have the latest and greatest! Bonnie's hobbies also included playing video games which she shared in common with her grandchildren.

Above all, Bonnie loved spending time with her family and shared a special bond with her daughter. She was the most generous, caring and giving person. Bonnie most enjoyed when she was with her family, whether it was having dinner together or simply watching a movie. She will be dearly missed and will forever hold a very special place in all of our hearts.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Tia (Chris) Slobogian-Sanford; son, Blair Smith; honorary daughter, Sandra Harris; grandchildren, Tricia Slobogian-Sanford (Luke Gallant), Jessie Slobogian-Sanford (Jill Adams), Christopher Lloyd (Jen Kuz), Shanna-Lee Lloyd and Timothy Gunn; honorary granddaughter, Seanna Buttigen; great-grandchildren, Conlin, Tyson, Maddox, Mila and Sophia; sister, Linda Smith Rennie; as well as nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by son, Timothy Lyall; granddaughter, Hayley Gunn; sister, Wendy Smith and the man who loved her dearly, Harold Lang.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Amber Phillips, the staff at Hants Community Hospital and those who provided special care and compassion to Bonnie throughout her diagnosis.
