Obituary of Harold Keith Follett

Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Keith Follett of Dartmouth, formerly of Garlands Crossing, announce his sudden passing at home on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the age of 72. Born in Grand Bank, NL on October 9, 1949 he was a son of the late Charles and Lillian (Patten) Follett.

He was a loyal and dedicated employee of The Bank of Nova Scotia for 38 years, prior to his retirement in 2005. Over the years, Harold was a member of various service organizations, both in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. While with the Rotary Club of Dartmouth East, he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award by the Rotary International President for his dedicated service to his community.

“Big H”, as Harold was fondly called, enjoyed his family and friends and always looked forward to a get-together with a big “scoff”, a few games of cards or crib and some drinks with lots of ice. He sure enjoyed his BBQs, pineapple squares, egg salad sandwiches and icy cold orange juice. We will cherish precious memories of camping with the family, Dad coaching Amy’s soccer team and weekend trips to Canadian Tire to buy more tools. Dad will always be remembered for his attention to detail and careful planning.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Maxine (Hennessey); his beloved children, Paula Follett, Dartmouth; Harold, Milton, ON; Peggy (Jeff) Harmes, Quispamsis, NB; Angela (Marc) Perry, Dartmouth; Amy Follett (Justin), Dartmouth and their mother, Elizabeth Morrissey, Dartmouth. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ryan and Kate Comeau, Aidan and Evan Harmes; step-son, Rory Phillips (Christie) and step-granddaughter, Odette Phillips; brothers, Frank (Patricia), St. John’s, NL; Charles, Grand Bank, NL; only sister, Joan Miller, Grand Bank, NL; sister-in-law, Sharon, Mount Pearl, NL, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends in Newfoundland and all other parts of Canada.

Harold was predeceased by his father, Charles (October 1980) and mother, Lillian Follett (February 2009); eldest brother, George (July 2015) and brother-in-law, Wilfred Miller (September 2019).

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a service celebrating Harold’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 4, Rev.
