Obituary of Bernice Evelyn Miller

Please share a memory of Bernice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 92, of Falmouth, formerly of Laval, Quebec, passed away peacefully April 9, 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, following a stroke. Born July 13, 1929 in Verdun, Quebec, Bernice was the youngest daughter of the late Walter Halstead and Florida (Savaria). Bernice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Thomas; sons, Michael (Carole-Ann) and Greg (Frances); grandchildren, Shannon Thomas Walton (Donald), Samantha and Alyssa Miller; great grandsons, Chase and Ryder Walton; and sister, Alice Halstead. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph last July and great-grandson, Brady Walton. Family was everything to Bernice and she will be sorely missed. Following a major stroke in 2020, Bernice defied the odds and returned home to rule the roost with the help of compassionate caregivers Amber, Tyler, Shannon, and Melissa. Despite physical challenges, she had a keen mind and looked forward to her daily Cribbage games with family, Bridge games on her Kindle, weekly Messenger video chats with Susan, and visits by friends and family. A woman of deep faith, she looked forward to Sunday Mass every week. Memories of Bernice will live on in our hearts to ease our personal sense of loss and trust in her belief that she has been reunited with loved ones in her eternal home. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation, by request. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, April 21 in St. John the Evangelist Church, 339 King St., Windsor, Rev. Father John MacPherson officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you purchase a home blood pressure monitor and use it regularly. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting: www.demontfamilyfuneralhome.ca If you are among the lucky ones who still has a parent(s), call them, visit them, give them a big hug.
