Due to forecasted weather conditions, the funeral service will be now held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 31 in Christ Church Anglican, 543 King St., Windsor. PHILLIPS, Frank Herbert "Herb" - 90, of Windsor, Hants Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 25, 2012, with family at his side. Born in Wentworth, Hants Co., he was the son of the late Frank and Stella (Fletcher) Phillips.Dad served in the West Nova Scotia Regiment (Army) from 1943-1945, during the Second World War. He worked at the Fundy Gypsum Company for approximately 40 years until his retirement. Dad was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 009, Windsor, a member of the Fundy Gypsum Union and was a volunteer for many years at the Quarry Worker Society, and he was a member of Christ Church Anglican. He was Past President of the Windsor Royals and Secretary Treasurer of the Quarry Workers Hall. Mom and Dad enjoyed their Saturday night dances at the Quarry Union Hall. Our Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, loved watching hockey and wrestling. One of Dad’s biggest passions was his homemade remedies that he had for everything. They included ingredients such as vinegar, garlic and kombucha tea and were known for treating many things. Dad especially enjoyed being around his family and grandchildren, who were his life.He is survived by sons, Graham (Shirley); Richard (Heather); Frank (Dianne); David (Kathy); daughters, Barb (Bob) MacInnis; Paulette (Sandy Frank); Shelley (John) Mason; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Florence Cochrane and Dianna Skuffham; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Phillips. Dad was predeceased by his first wife, Vera (Harvey); second wife, Pauline (Clark); son, Blaine; brothers, Harry, Ryle, Walter; sisters, Virginia Bulger and Joan Warner.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service (Lohnes-DeMont Funeral Service Ltd.), 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 009 will conduct a tribute service at 5:45 p.m. followed by visitation until 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 29. Due to forecasted weather conditions, the funeral service will be now held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 31 in Christ Church Anglican, 543 King St., Windsor, Rev. David Curry officiating. Burial for both Herb and his wife, Pauline will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor with a reception to follow in the Royal Canadian Legion, Empire Lane, Windsor. Family flowers only, by request.
