Age 93, of Mount Denson, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Halifax, on April 29, 1928 to Charles and Ethel (Gates) Goldsmith, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his son, Douglas, Hantsport; daughters, Lisa, Chester Basin; Diana (Bradford) Hall, Mount Denson; Crystal Hodgins and family, B.C.; grandchildren, Amber Starratt, Chester and Evan Starratt, Halifax; great-grandchildren, Seth Starratt and Lily Barkhouse, both of Chester. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his wife, Barbara “Barb” (Peach) (2019); brother, John Goldsmith; sisters, Olive Campbell and Florence Paul. As a young man, while working on the gypsum boats, Frank met the love of his life, Barb and together they went into farming, where he raised his cattle and tended his crops. He had a successful strawberry u-pick for several years, that he was always proud of. Holding down more then one job at a time always kept him busy. Dad obtained his Stationary Engineering Degree and worked for Nova Scotia Light and Power at Tufts Cove for several years and after many moves, finished his career as an Engineer First Class at Acadia University. In his later years when he slowed down, his greatest joy was his great-grandchildren, Seth and Lily. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. Burial will be held in Mount Denson Community Cemetery. Donations in Frank’s memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia (902-423-7530) or Parkinson Canada (1-800-565-3000).
