Obituary of Anna C. Poirier

POIRIER, Anna Catherine - 79, Hantsport, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hantsport, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Lela (Starratt) McNeil.Anna studied at the Maritime Business College, graduating as a secretary. She later worked for the base commander at CFB Greenwood. Anna taught swimming lessons in both Greenwood and Hantsport. She was a member of St. Mary’s Ladies Guild and also taught religious education. Anna loved to spend time gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.Anna is survived by her husband, Robert Poirier; sons, Marc and Neil (Laura); daughters, Patty (Ron) Walker, Monique (Woody) Bennett and Diane (Arnold) Telegdi; sister, Mary (Mike) Cashin; brothers, Donald (Louise) McNeil and Michael (Shirley) McNeil; grandchildren, Laura, Megan, Jessica, Mary, Michael, Rhiannon, Wil and Sam; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John McNeil.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation, by family request. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 28 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 67 Main St., Hantsport, Rev. Father Michael Walsh officiating. Private interment will be held in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.
