Obituary of Sandra Dale Crossley-Lyon

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sandra D. Crossley-Lyon at the age of 69. Sandra passed away peacefully Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Valley Hospice, Kentville with her son, husband and daughter-in-law by her side. She fought a short battle with cancer and she fought hard until the end. Born September 30, 1952 in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late John Robert “Bob” and Lois Evangeline (Broome) Fletcher.
Sandra was a graduate of Dalhousie University (1973) and Acadia University (1974). She was a school teacher for her entire career and taught thousands of children from HRM to Annapolis Valley. She loved her job and she loved teaching children. A loving and caring mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, she loved and cherished her entire family, they all meant the world to her. Sandra enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and many other things around her home, she especially enjoyed being at her church which she attended regularly and spent countless hours volunteering her time at many church functions.
She is survived by her husband, John Lyon; son, Jonathan (Claire) Crossley, Greenfield; step-sons, Brad (Andrea) Crossley, Charters Settlement; Todd Lyon and family, Dana Lyon and family; step-daughters, Cindy (Brian) Boyd, Mt. Uniacke; Delores (Paul) Nielson, Oromocto, NB; Pam (Nick) Bird, Moncton, NB; Connie (Dyrald) Cross, Petawawa, ON; brother, Paul (Virginia) Fletcher, St. Croix; sister, Joan Levangie, Dartmouth; grandsons, Owen, Quentin and Grayson; and 15 step grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Wilfred Crossley; brother, James Fletcher; nephews, Patrick Levangie and Bradley Fletcher.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where visitation will be held Monday, November 1 from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Sandra’s life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 2 in St. John’s Anglican Church 164 Main St., Wolfville, Rev. Nicole Uzans officiating. Please note: Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination and identification must be presented upon arrival and masks are required at both visitation and the funeral. Burial will immediately follow in Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville.
