Age 96, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully in Wolfville Nursing Home on Monday, July 26, 2021. Born on May 23, 1925 in Hull, Quebec, she was a daughter of the late Aldege “Blackie” and Eméralda (Boulianne) Derouin. Mom enjoyed camping with her friends and granddaughter, Tamara, singsongs at the campground, dancing and a feisty game of Birtha with her friends. She was always buzzing around and willing to help. She enjoyed being a member of the Hantsport Hospital Auxiliary for many years and always made her fruitcake for the Catholic Christmas sale. She enjoyed her job working at CKF Inc. from 1968 to 1980 in the traffic department. In later life, she enjoyed her daily visits with her son, Mike. She is survived by children, Debbie Russell; Mike (Pauline) Coffin, all of Hantsport; Nicki (Gordon) Winstone, New Russell; grandchildren, Christopher Coffin and Tamara Gallagher (Mike Keating), all of Hantsport; sisters, June Lyghtle, Kennetcook; Carole (Sandy) Mills, Hantsport and Suzanne Jardine, Mississauga, Ont.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband, Edwin; partner, Stan Boutlier; sisters, Rita (Hubert) LaBelle, Pierrette (George) Morin and Claire (Beverly) Frizzle; brothers-in-law, Erwin Jardine and Gordon Lyghtle; son-in-law, Wallace Russell. A huge thank you to Wolfville Nursing Home Staff and Dr. Burton for the excellent care that you provided to our mother. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A private family graveside service will be held in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, Rev. Pauline Coffin officiating. If necessary, please bring your own chair and umbrella.
