To Helen's family: So sorry you have lost a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. I have many fond memories of Helen from my youth and beyond. May you all find comfort in your own memories of her. I know you will miss her very much.

Gwen, Thank you for your condolences. Your family was very important to Mum. She enjoyed working beside your Mom in so many community events, commuting to work with your Dad & then cleaning & providing meals for him. Greta being her maid of honour & life-long friend, meant a lot to her as did cleaning for Royce & him lending her his recliner & then of course you gave both of her daughters their first full summer jobs! I am so glad that you have lots of great memories of Mum.

Thinking of you in your loss of a wonderful woman, Helen Haley. Looking back at growing up in South Rawdon; remembering Helen and her lovely family; I remember learning hymns with Helen and her mother; also going to the Hall for various different occasions: strawberry shortcake suppers, Pie Socials, and other good times. Good memories, with Helen among them.

I have fond memories of your mother and father as I worked at Family and Children's Services and was Darcy's social worker for a number of years.
Their love and concern for their family and Darcy in particular, was beyond compare.I enjoyed my home visits with them and learned lots about the joys of the simplicity of life. Even after I retired I would continue to get a Christmas letter from Mrs. Haley keeping me updated on the family news.If my memory serves me correctly I last saw her at a Hants County Exhibition where we had a chance to catch up with each others news.
It is with fond memories that I will remember her as I know you too will have wonderful memories and stories to help you through these difficult days and beyond.
With sincere sympathy, Janet Anderson

Thank you Janet, Our parents being foster parents taught us many great life lessons. We were fortunate to have such a loving caring Mother., as were the foster children who came through our doors. I remember how she fought for Darcy's education like a lion for her cub. Thank you for remembering her .

To the Haley family, my sincere condolences. I remember well, many fun filled days playing at the Haley residence and enjoying a delicious slice of Helen's homemade bread with molasses. A special treat for a city girl, new to life in South Rawden in 1971. So many have been touched by Helen's kindness and generosity. May God's presence, peace and love be near you as you celebrate such a special life.
Blessings,
Miriam Janssen (daughter of Ralph and Ruth Wilton)

Thank you Miriam. We remember very well that baked bread and molasses as well. She must have baked bread at least three times a week to feed her family and also the most delicious hot milk rolls for Sunday with chicken dinner. Oh so good! She also spent at least a few years baking bread, pies, and cookies, to sell in the community to give her a bit of pin money. Good memories.

It is such a difficult time for families to share their grief. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thank you Carol, Mom admired and was grateful to you as well. She loved that talent of yours and that you used it to praise the Lord. She was never so pleased when you came to our church and were willing to play the piano. It was such a relief to her to be able to give some of the responsibility on to another. Thank you for your support of our mother through the years.

I was in shock and disbelief when I received the news that Helen had moved to the next chapter in her life. Leslie may have moved into the Lodge first, but Helen was not going to let him out before herself. May she breathe easier now that she has rid herself of the bodily form from which her soul was encased in, though it appeared very nicely. May she now rest, for she has been a busy lady n her 91 years. Helen will be greatly missed by many at Dykeland Lodge.

Thank you Lisa, I agree, our mother looked really good...for her age! LOL She reminded me just a few weeks ago that I had her age wrong.....she was not yet 92, I'm only 91 you know! We are confident that she is breathing easier now. Thank you for your wonderful care, compassion and humour looking after both of our parents. We appreciate it very much.

Thank you for posting Christie, I had the pleasure of visiting Mom a few times as she worked at the Elms. There she was not my Mother, she was a nurse. I remember a few stories of how she dealt with situations that arose there. She loved being a geriatric nurse and always thought a lot of her patients. For her the health and well-being of the residents was of utmost importance. Thank you for reminding us that she was also a great nurse as well as being a wonderful wife and mother .
