Age 83, of Three Mile Plains, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in Arborstone Enhanced Care Home, Halifax. Born October 1, 1937 in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Kinsman and Florence (Spinney) Benjamin. Maxine worked at Nova Scotia Textiles for many years and also at J.W. Mason and Sons. She loved to bake and go to the flea market to sell her baked goods. She met many returning customers and friends there. Maxine would sell her baking and would always come home with things she bought. Maxine is survived by her children, Tracey (Gordon McKenzie), Cogmagun; Debbie (Richard Trider), Three Mile Plains; David (Anna), Three Mile Plains; Pam (Gary Myles), Avonport; James, Three Mile Plains; Lloyd (Carol), Three Mile Plains; son-in-law, Fred Trider, Martock; brother-in-law, Fred Patterson, Coldbrook; Maxine’s special granddaughters, Dallas and Lily, special grandson, Nick, along with 21 other grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. Maxine also leaves behind sisters, Pat Gammon, Kentville and Helen Cousins, Canaan Mountain; brothers, Ray (Barb), Bishopville; Wayne, Cambridge; Clarence (Wendy), Newport Station and Leroy (Lois), New Minas; and special cousin, whom she loved like a sister, Phyllis Eldridge, Hantsport. Besides her parents, Maxine was predeceased by her husband, Floyd (2020); daughter, Donna Trider and granddaughter, Penny Trider; sisters, Gladys Miller and Marie Patterson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at Arborstone Enhanced Care, especially the staff of the 4th Floor, for their care given to Mom during her stay there. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A public graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 7 in Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King St., Windsor, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. COVID-19 physical distancing guidelines must be respected. Please bring a chair and umbrella if required. Donations in memory of Maxine may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (902-423-6183).
