Susan, Brian and families:
My sincerest sympathies on the passing of Claire. . .mother, sister, grandmother and a genuine friend to all who knew her.
It would take many words to describe her faith, her love of the Church, her contributions to St. Mary's throughout the years, her love of music, especially of the fifties and sixties, dancing and most importantly, her love of family.
She was a sweetheart! Though her tone when she spoke was sometimes gruff (that was her way) her heart was soft and real. You will be greatly missed, Claire.
May you rest in peace.

We wish to send our condolences to the Derouin/Frizzle families on Claire's recent passing to the next phase of her life - she is probably already up there teasing with a helping hand where needed. Many years ago our family lived on Davison Street across from the Derouins and remember well the times at the skating rink, swimming pool, etc. David also recently reminded me of the two years he stayed with the Derouins after the rest of us had moved. A few years ago, when I came back for a reunion, I was reintroduced to Claire and we had nice chats each and every time we saw each other. Her quick wit and dry humour often brought grins/laughs to the conversation. Our thoughts are with you at this time and a donation will be made to the Food Bank in her memory

We would like to extend our condolences to Claire's family. Wayne knew Claire (and Bev) as he is from Hantsport. Cindy knew Claire (Bev) as she was a great friend of my parents, Norman and Jean Swim. They met through camping at Ponhook for many summers and enjoyed many card games together. I always liked seeing her and talking with her and I am sure she will be greatly missed by her family and community.

Susan, I am so sad to hear that Claire has passed. I remember her as so welcoming to me many years ago when you took me to visit Claire. She always had an interest in what was going in our lives and wanted things to be happy, productive, and full of fun. She was a teacher in the school of how to make "the best" pickles and gave me lots of recipes hoping I'd love to cook. That didn't happen!!! She was always one to stop and talk and loved to tell stories and find out how things were going in our lives when Wayne would see her in town. I'm happy she made it to 80. She was very very proud of Jess, a wonderful grandmother. Take care xoxo

Aunt Claire, thank you for taking care of me and welcoming me as part of your family during my critical university years. You and Uncle Bev really positively impacted me as a person and as a professional. I fondly remember watching curling, ice skating and taking turns with a head scratch (you always found a way to get 10 extra minutes!). You were there when I brought Mark home for the first time and then you both taught us how to play Rook. I still play and the girls are always the winners! I have so many fond memories and I miss you terribly. Please say hi to dad (aka Uncle Joe), Uncle Bev and have a spicy cesar, tbone steak and cocktail shrimp meal and think of me! With much love - your niece - Tara xoxo

Dear Sue, Brian, Jessica and Family. Your mother/grandmother was such a part of my growing up. Being a pool rat, Claire and I were known to each other from an early age for me. Swimming was my biggest summer routine and it eventually led me to working at the pool for four summers - your mom and Effie Scott did the interviewing and hired me. I enjoyed her sense of humour and her gruffness - it was fun matching wits with her once I was older - the teenage me maybe not so much! We always had great conversations when we met up. She sure loved her Jessica! She was a good friend to Russ' mom - they shared lots of adventures together over the years. Claire and Bev will always be thought of with affection and a smile. We are very sorry for your loss.

I want to extend my prayers and condolences to Brian and Sue and to all of Claire’s family and loved ones.
Having known Claire since we moved to Hants Border many years ago, it wasn’t until more recent years that I got to know Claire better.
She could be somewhat gruff of tone, at times, but underneath that was a warm and caring heart, always honest and to the point.
I discovered her love of music in recent years, particularly mostly anything out of the 50’s and 60’s, and especially Neil Diamond. She loved to chit chat about growing up in Hantsport and the dances at the “barn” . . . the hot spot for local teenagers in those days often listening to live bands in the area. I had made for her some MP3 tapes that she played almost daily as she grew to be more incapacitated.
Where I learned most about Claire was in church where she was a regular at St. Mary’s and a faithful parishioner giving of her service in so many ways, and contributing to the life of the small mission church. She also had a special love for the Virgin Mary to whom she prayed the rosary regularly. Her faith was strong.
You will be missed, Claire. God’s blessing be with you.

It was a great call (actually two calls), being reminded of her laugh and that mischievous wit, was pure delight.
