Obituary of Estelle Beatrice Francis

Age 94, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 28, 2020, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born May 2, 1926 in Halifax, she was the daughter of Charles and Catherine (Christian) Roche. Mom was a gifted gardener and lover of all animals, with a soft spot in her heart for cats. She was an avid reader with a quick mind and great talent for puzzles. A woman of great faith, she was a devoted member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. Estelle is survived by sons, John (Christine), Kenneth (Leone); daughters, Ellen (Bill) Estabrooks, Paula Simmons, Karen (Bernie) Marvin, Christine Davies, Angela Parker; 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, David Francis; brothers, Charles, William, Edward and Kenneth. Ever resourceful, she worked hard to raise seven children whom she dearly loved. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Sophie Couture, Dr. Cathryn Smith, and the palliative care team at Hants Community Hospital. Also, a special thank you to Mom's wonderful neighbours, who were always there to help. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A private funeral service will be held in Saint Vincent de Paul Church, Dartmouth. A private family burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville.
