Obituary of Doris Susie Rafuse
Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 90, of Windsor, formerly of Vaughan, Hants Co., passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born July 13, 1930 in Vaughan, she was a daughter of the late Raymond C. and Nellie J. (Church) Lake.
Doris was a homemaker all her life. She was an avid knitter and lover of her faithful dog, Rex. Doris' nieces and nephews, and anyone who needed them, were recipients of her copious amounts of mittens and socks that she knit for everyone to keep them warm each winter. Doris was a former Elder, Trustee and on the Board of Stewards of Vaughan United Church. She loved her lawn ornaments and going to flea markets. Doris was dedicated to her family and cared for her parents until they passed away. In Doris’ own words: “I tried to be good to everybody that I could”.
Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Herman; sister, Bonnie; brothers, Archie, Avon and Gordon.
Special thanks to the caregivers that have helped Doris for the past several years, both at home and during her stay at Dykeland Lodge.
