Obituary of Reta M. Joudrey

JOUDREY, Reta Marie - 93, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2012, at home, in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Her daughter and son-in-law were at her side. Born in Liverpool on September 15, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Jessie (Feener) and Frederick Stafford.In her younger years, Reta worked in the dispensary of Seldon’s Drug Store in her home town. After marrying Glenn Joudrey in January, 1947, she lived in Bridgewater, Rockingham, Moncton, and Falmouth. She was a former member of the Moncton and Windsor Lionettes, and the Windsor Glider’s Club. Reta was a stay-at-home mum, and took great pride in her home and gardens. She also enjoyed bowling, and was an avid bridge player. For the past three and a half years, Reta was a resident of the Windsor Elms Village, where she enjoyed participating in a variety of activities, particularly those related to music.She will be sadly missed by her husband, Glenn, Windsor Elms Village; daughter, Susan and son-in-law, Doug Fraser; Windsor. Reta was very proud of her three grandchildren, Jeff (Jill), Falmouth, Jan (Wayne Burke), Windsor, and Holly, living at Kings Meadow Residence in Windsor; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Alex, and Abby Fraser, Falmouth. Reta is also survived by her sister, Grace (James) McAvoy, Halifax and brother, Merrill (Elsie) Stafford, Bridgewater. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Clarence Waltherr; sisters, Evelyn and Marjorie; brothers, Arnold and Richard.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service (Lohnes-DeMont Funeral Service Ltd.), 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation, by request. Funeral service will be held at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, 339 King St., Windsor on Thursday, November 1, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Father Michael Walsh officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Burial at a later date in Liverpool. Very special thanks to all of the staff at Windsor Elms Village for the kindness and compassion shown to Reta during her years there, especially to Ben Robertson, Music Therapist, who was very special to Reta. Donations in memory may be made to New Boundaries, Kings Meadow Residence, or the Chaplaincy Fund of Windsor Elms Village.
