Age 93, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born November 27, 1926 in Avonport, Verna was a daughter of the late William and Agnes (Smith) Tracey. Verna started work as a teenager at a hotel in Hantsport, then went on to work at the Yeaton’s Candy Factory. She said she liked the products they made way too much. Verna was a member of the New Minas Waves Senior Group and an adherent of the Hantsport Baptist Church. She loved to go to all the craft shows. Verna also loved to crochet and knit in her spare time, and her work was beautiful. She had a big heart and was a loving mother. She is survived by son, Dale (Bonnie); daughter, Donna Mason; sisters, Jean and Bernadine; brothers, Gerald, Guy and Blake; eight grandchildren; as well as great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Verna was predeceased by husband, Arthur; daughter, Judith; brother, Blake and son-in-law, Garnet Mason. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family interment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, Rev. Jennifer Riley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Verna may be made to Dykeland Lodge, 124 Cottage St., Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8346).
