Jason, Krista and Family,
So sorry for your loss. Carl hired me for my first pharmacist position at Pharmasave New Minas back in 1998. He owned many stores back then but I remember he would drop by at least once a week in the evening to do paperwork and if it was quiet we would gladly answer all my questions about pharmacy and business. Such a kind and thoughtful man. He will be missed.

Words fail. This should not be. Its cruelty is only matched by its suddenness.
How does one express loss for one of life's most valued friendships?
I came to know and respect Carl and Heather in the workplace, a friendship which grew into deep affection and visits in our later years and retirement.
During our working years there were precious moments when Carl immeasurably contributed to my self esteem by assigning me important tasks, one was in modifying technical information, another was by treating me as a respected equal when he introduced me to a visiting out-of-town friend/colleague. I was taken aback when that gentleman asked me, with Carl standing there, what I thought was Carl's most valuable characteristic as a boss. I answered with honesty and pride, "Carl never micromanages." I think Carl was pleased. Over the years, we shared many confidences, challenges, concerns and jokes, even embarrassments endured dealing with the public.
With Heather's blessing, Carl handled communication during our later years. His emails were always filled with updates, news, photos of trips, activities, family visits in Florida, news of beloved grandchildren, always golf, and sometimes even politics with rapier wit, a mutual interest. Carl was a fabulous photographer, and in these last years, developed an interest in painting and was generous in sharing them, which he knew I loved.
We who were blessed to have known Carl, know of his innumerable kindnesses.
The picture of Carl above is perfectly true to the wonderful, spirited, joyful, witty, life-loving good and decent man he was. Memories are forever. Someday we shall remember and smile with fewer tears. We shall never forget him.
My profound sympathy to you, Heather, his beloved soulmate, and to all the family and those who loved him.

Dear Heather, heartfelt condolences to you and your boys on Carl’s passing. I had the good fortune to play golf with Carl on Wednesday men’s night the past several years. He was generally my cart driver as he felt I hit too many bumps. I teased him endlessly last year when he could not drive his own car, that driving the golf cart was also probably illegal! I received some very firm responses from him about what he thought of that opinion. I know he is banging golf balls out up in heaven. I just hope there are lots of new drivers for him to try. To all of the Trider Family,
I was sadly shocked to hear of Carl's passing on Sunday. Carl was one of the first pharmacist owners I met when I moved to Nova Scotia in the mid 80's from Nfld. I remember well thinking that if Carl was an example of Nova Scotia's pharmacy community, I was going to be very much at home.
His respect, attitude, and concern for everyone who passed through his doors, whether customer, patient, neighbour or supplier was always shining. His community involvement locally was always strong and his sense of responsibility to contribute was tremendous.
His friendly smile, greeting and concern will be missed by the Valley community.
Above all, Carl was a gentleman and will be fondly remembered by many.

To heather and family
So very sad to hear of Carl’s passing he was a true gem and loved our talks ( more like him teasing me) so many memories of Carl which I will cherish and with time my hope is you will all find comfort in your memories of him. As you know he would want everyone to keep laughing and enjoying life just like he did.
Take care of each other!

To Emily...
Biggest virtual hug, dear Emily. I’m sorry I can’t see you to tell you in person that it will be okay. It’s so sad and hurts our heart when we lose someone but that means that your Grandfather was special enough to be loved and missed. Luckily we get to keep them close in our heart. Take care sweet girl. How I miss seeing you so much.
Love,
Mrs McAdoo
