Obituary of Linda Joan Fredericks

After many courageous battles with cancer the past few years, Linda Fredericks, of Windsor, passed away at the age of 70, on Sunday, March 29, 2020 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Canaan, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Edith “Renee” (Eisenhauer) Walker. Linda enjoyed a career with Victory Credit Union for many years. She was also a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch No. 009, Windsor. Linda had many friendships due to her kind, positive nature. From dances at the legion to weekend retreats with her “CPF’s”, she loved to socialize and be around others. Before she got too ill, she was able to mark a few things off her bucket list including, her trips to Ireland, the Netherlands and river cruise through the Danube. Linda is survived by her husband of 51 years, Douglas; daughter, Tracey Cimello (Tony); grandchild, Sierra Cleveland. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Harold and Darrell Walker. Linda’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care team and Northwood Homecare for their kind and compassionate care of Mom during her illness. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be a public graveside service, coinciding with Linda’s birthday, held on Friday, July 17 at 1:00 p.m. in St. John the Evangelist Parish Cemetery, Wiley Ave. Windsor. COVID-19 physical distancing guidelines must be followed and if necessary please bring your own lawn chair and umbrella. It is recommended that you wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 5826 South St., Halifax, NS B3H 1S6, Hants Community Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, 89 Payzant Dr., Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 or a charity of choice.
