Age 91, of Three Mile Plains, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, with his loving family by his side. Born in Three Mile Plains, he was a son of the late Thomas and Gladys (Parker) Swinamer. Floyd worked for Armstrong’s Sawmill for over 40 years and he was well-known in Hants County for his horse trading and his cattle he always had. Floyd leaves behind his wife, Maxine, Three Mile Plains; children, Tracey (Gordon McKenzie), Cogmagun; Debbie (Richard Trider), Three Mile Plains; David (Anne), Three Mile Plains; Pam (Gary Myles), Avonport; James (Cindy), Westville; Lloyd (Carol), Three Mile Plains; son-in-law, Fred Trider, Martock; Floyd’s special granddaughters, Dallas and Lily, special grandson, Nick, along with 21 other grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Floyd also leaves behind brothers, Robert “Bob”, Wile Settlement; and Victor “Bun” (Margaret), Three Mile Plains; sister-in-law, Shirley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Floyd was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Trider and granddaughter, Penny Trider; brothers, Leslie and Laurie; sisters, Cecilia, Caroline, Ruby, Isabel, Norma and Geraldine. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to everyone at Dykeland Lodge, especially the staff of Blenkhorn Centre, for their care shown to Dad during his stay there. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a service celebrating Floyd’s life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, Rev. Debra Mosher officiating. Private family interment will immediately follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. A reception will be held in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Donations in memory of Floyd may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, 5657 Spring Garden Rd., Box 245, Halifax, NS B3J 3R4 or Dykeland Lodge, 124 Cottage St., Windsor, NS B0N 2T0.
