Obituary of George Meister Trenholm

It is with appreciation for a life well-lived that the family of George Meister Trenholm announces his passing, which occurred peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Hants Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Windsor on February 28, 1939, he was a son of the late Harold and Mary (Meister) Trenholm. George enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy, serving as a stoker from 1958-1979. He worked at the Nova Scotia Textiles as a Stationary Engineer, remaining there until retiring at age 60. George enjoyed downhill skiing, motorcycling, playing cards and cuddling his cats. He loved country music, and camping with his wife, Florence, his children and extended family. He will be missed by his beloved wife of 45 years, Florence (Evans); sons, Devin and Joe; daughter, Theresa; grandchildren, Bethany, Nathan, Brandon, Erin, Jaime and Avery; brother, Aubrey; nieces, Roberta "Bobbi" and Catherine; nephews, Troy and Paul; as well as his extended family. A very special thank you to the kind and compassionate nursing and medical staff on Unit 200 at the Hants Community Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317), where a public legion tribute service will be conducted at 4 p.m. immediately followed by visiting until 6 p.m., Monday, January 6. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 7 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Father. John MacPherson officiating. Private family burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. A reception will be held in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre.
