Obituary of Laura "Myrtle" Smith

Age 89, of Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, formerly of Hantsport, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 3, 2019 in Dykeland. Born in Upper Falmouth, she was a daughter of the late Lewis A. and Georgie E. (Robinson) Smith.

 

Myrtle belonged to the Hantsport Elders and was a member of the Anglican Church. In her younger years she was in a bowling league. Myrtle was employed for 32 years at CKF. She enjoyed spending her days knitting and crocheting, even working on a piece in the last few weeks.

 

She is survived by her sisters, Reta Gould and Edith Allen; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her parents, Myrtle was predeceased by brothers, Gordon, Laurie and Gerald.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 7 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Tom Henderson officiating. A private family interment will be held in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Town Rd., Falmouth with a reception to follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Myrtle may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Division, 5826 South St., Halifax, NS B3H 1S6 or a charity of one’s choice.
