Obituary of Joan Marie Schofield

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Age 87, of Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, formerly of Windsor Forks, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, August 11, 2019 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born December 25, 1931 in Falmouth, she was a daughter of the late Joel Payzant and Alice (King) (Payzant) Lane.

Mum moved to Windsor Forks when she married Dad in 1952. They raised their family and she remained in Windsor Forks until 2017 when she moved into Dykeland Lodge. Mum loved her family above all else. She found great joy and laughter in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to paint in oils and even water colors in later years. She loved to knit and could create any craft she turned her mind to. All her grandchildren have a beautiful quilt made for them by their Nan. Mum was close to all her siblings her entire life and shared a special bond with her sister, Mary.

Mum was a member of the Windsor Forks Women’s Institute for many years. She was also in a bowling league in Windsor and had many fun filled evenings and stories to tell.

Joan is survived by daughter, Sherri, Vernon, BC; sons, Harley (Kathy), Windsor Forks; Fred (Charmaine), Brooklyn; Wayne (Paula), Windsor Forks; Darren (Lori), Windsor; grandchildren, Josh (Amy), Marci (Joey), Wray, Nick (Liz), Tara (Brandon), Devon, CJ (Adam), Kyley (Jamie), Dylan (Lydia), Drew, Trevor (Kristy), Matt (Vicki), Krista (Carly), Jake (Melissa), Isaac, Kristin,; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Alfred (Doreen); sisters, Frances, Mary, Evelyn, Betty and Barb; sister-in-law, Ethel Payzant; as well as numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews and cousins.
