ALLEN, Jean Kathleen "Nanny Jean" - 83, Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, formerly of Falmouth. With heavy hearts, we the family of Jean K. Allen announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother, with her family by her side on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Avonport on March 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Orlo and Jennie (Redmond) Anderson.Jean always enjoyed politics and bled "Tory Blue". She was the type of person who could always strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, about anything. Jean loved her Tim Hortons and made many friendships while going there. She was an avid Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays fan. She and her late husband Gerald, volunteered at the local nursing homes and they always enjoyed their trips to Stacey’s Jamboree. Jean was very dedicated to her family and always loved listening to all their stories.She is survived by her sons, David (Anna), Windsor; Stephen "Stan" (Donna), Falmouth; Robin (Alison), Falmouth; daughters, Ramona (Roger) Emslie, Milford, Hants Co.; Brenda (Jim) Lawrence, Brooklyn, Queens Co.; Geraldine (Terry) Miller, Falmouth; sisters, Frances (Alfie) Gentile, Ottawa; Patsy (Dave) Grainger, Concord, Mass.; Beverley Eastman, Toronto; Alberta Forsythe, White Rock; Regina (Jack) Lockhart, Avonport; 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her step-mother, Grace (Byron) Morine; her husband, Gerald L. Allen (1998); brother, George Buchanan; brothers-in-law, Dale Forsythe and George Eastman.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service (Lohnes-DeMont Funeral Service Ltd.), 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday, September 14. Funeral service will take place 2 pm Saturday, September 15 in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Debra Mosher officiating. Interment will be held in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Falmouth. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
