Obituary of Charles Randall "Randy" Parker

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Age 62, of Ashdale, Hants County, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, March 31, 2019 in Hants Community Hospital. It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Randy. Born in Windsor and raised in Ashdale, he was the eldest son of the late Charles and Jean (Harvey) Parker.

Randy fought cancer with everything he had in him for more then four years. With so many hospital stays and emergency trips he never lost focus on pushing on to live another day. Randy’s reason for getting up and fighting everyday was to see his grandbabies grow up, who will miss him dearly.

Randy worked for Atlantic Pole Lines for 17 years before working 19 years for Dexter Construction, until being diagnosed with cancer in 2014.

He enjoyed being outside farming, milling wood at his mill, going to the camp and most of all fishing. Randy was always up to go fishing, especially trout and striped bass and would make sure you knew if he caught the biggest, he really enjoyed his trips to Cape Breton Highlands fishing. He was a huge Toronto Maple Leaf fan and could often be heard every Saturday night cursing at how poorly they were playing. Randy’s knowledge and ability to fix seemingly anything will be missed.

Randy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Starlene; sons, Ryan (Sarah) and Brian (Whitney); grandchildren, Ella, Emily and Jack; brothers, Lawrence (Jackie), Ross (Sherri), Steven (Heather Taylor); sisters, Debbie (Paul) Weir, Holly (Mike) Mahar and Karla (Kenny) Zwicker; several nieces and nephews and his dog and buddy, Sam.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). All are invited to drop in at any time to a Celebration of Life on Thursday, April 4 between the hours 3-5 p.m., in the Brooklyn Civic Centre, 995 Highway 215, Brooklyn. There will be eulogies delivered at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Randy may be made the Canadian Cancer Society, 5826 South St., Halifax, NS B3H 1S6.
