Obituary of Wilfred William Jodrey

Age 85, of Windsor, passed away peacefully in his own bed, in his sleep, in the house he built, Thursday, March 14, 2019. Born in Port Williams on March 3, 1934, he was a son of the late Lloyd Melvin and Dollie Dell (Ells) Jodrey.

 

Wilf worked for Pepsi Cola for five years, Red Rose Tea for 35 years and drove tour bus for Perry Rand and bus for King’s-Edgehill students for 15 years.

 

He belonged to eight chapters of the Masonic Lodge joining in 1960 and was presented with four 50-year jewels. He was a 32nd Degree Mason within two years of joining and was able to then become a member of the Philee Temple, from which he received his 50-year jewel, and the Eastern and Western Valley Shrine Clubs, which he joined in 1962. Wilf belonged to the United Commercial Travelers Club and received a 50-year jewel from there as well. He was a member of the Windsor Senior Citizen Bus Society for 38 years, as well as the Friends of Dykeland Lodge. His tireless fundraising efforts helped to raise money for three senior’s buses and the Shriners Children’s Hospital. He spent many hours looking after the senior’s buses and taking part with the Shriners in parades.

 

Wilf is survived by his wife, Gladys; stepdaughters, Deborah MacPherson; Sherry (Herb) Sanford; Wendy (Philip) Bacon; stepsons, Jerry (Patti) Sheehy and John Sheehy; step grandchildren, Joshua (Niomi), Robert (Ashley), Travis (Brittany) and Amanda Bacon (Nick); Jeremy Sheehy (Megan); Jacquline Hartt (Ricky); Shantel Barnett (Chris) and Herbi Sanford (Tanya); step great-grandchildren, Rachel and Erica Hartt; Jessica Barnett; Caleb and Issac Bacon; Karmyn, Danica and Khloe MacDonald; sister, Wava Pickwell; nephews, Dana and Bradley; nieces, Terrydel and Roslyn; sister-in-law, June.

 

Besides his parents, Wilf was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce (2001); brothers, John, Ross and Clayton; sisters-in-law, Lois and Bertie Jodrey; brother-in-law, John Pickwell.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will greet visitors 2-4 p.m. only, Sunday, March 17th. Welsford Lodge No. 26 will conduct a public Masonic Tribute Service, immediately followed by a funeral service on Monday, March 18th at 1:00 p.m. in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wilf may be made to Friends of Dykeland Lodge, 124 Cottage St., Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 or Shriners Hospitals for Children - Canada, 1003 Decarie Boulevard, Montreal, QC H4A 0A9.
