Obituary of Gordon Stephen Dolimont
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, March 9th, 2019, in the Hants Community Hospital at the age of 65.
Born September 19, 1953 in Sydney Mines, he was the only son of the late Leonard and Theresa (Robinson) Dolimont. At a young age he moved to Toronto where he worked in the auto industry for several years before moving back to Nova Scotia in the early 1990s. He worked as a building superintendent in Bedford, Clayton Park and Kearney Lake before moving to Windsor in 2004. He retired from the Dept. of National Defence in November of last year where he had been employed for the last nine years.
Gord was an avid NASCAR and Montreal Canadiens fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his family especially the annual gatherings in August. He was quite the handyman, enjoyed tinkering his garage and could fix just about anything that he put his hand to.
He is survived by his partner of 26 years, Claire Purdy, Three Mile Plains; daughter, Michelle; son, Stephen (Heather); grandchildren, Logan, Eden and Jackson, all of Toronto; sisters, Linda (Jim McNeil) Hull, Barrachois; Helen (Grant) King, Bedford; Brenda (Roy MacLean) Dolimont, Boisdale; Patricia, Port Hastings; sister-in-law, Cathy Purdy, Sackville; brother-in-law, Chuck Purdy, Three Mile Plains; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Gordie was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Joan Purdy.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff of Hants Community Hospital, Unit 200.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12.
