OIKLE, Richard Gordon "Rick" - 65, Hantsport, passed away peacefully Monday, August 27, 2012 in VG Site, QE II, Halifax. Born February 10, 1947 in Windsor, he was the son of the late Elmer "Happy" and Elizabeth "Betty" (Robertson) Oikle.Rick grew up and was raised in Hantsport. He worked 44 combined years at Minas Basin Pulp & Power and CKF Inc., retiring in 2006. Rick was a member of the Hantsport Baptist Church. He was a former chartered member of the Hantsport Lions Club; Glooscap Archery Club and the two way radio club. Rick was an avid geocacher and he logged many miles on his adventures. He was a well known tinkerer and jack of all trades. Rick always enjoyed helping others whenever he could, especially his neighbours and watching out for his neighbourhood. His art for being frugal will not be forgotten.Rick is survived by his wife, the former Linda Ann Findlay; daughters, Tracy (Allen) MacMillan and Laura Oikle; granddaughter, Leanne MacMillan; sisters, Beth (Curt) Caldwell and Janice (Donnie) Riley; brother, Loyd (Jennifer) Oikle; uncle, James Robertson; sister-in-law, Jocelyn Wills; nieces and nephews, Carl, Erin Rob, Katie, Alex, David, Patrick, Brodie; as well as cousins and other extended family members. Besides his parents, Rick was predeceased by his uncle, George Robertson and aunt, Grace Bruce.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service (Lohnes-DeMont Funeral Service Ltd.), 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive friends 6-8 pm Thursday, August 30. Funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, August 31 in Hantsport Baptist Church, 1 Main Street, Hantsport, with the Rev. Dan Jamer officiating. A reception will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory of Rick may be made to Canadian Cancer Society; Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of one’s choice.
