We were sorry to learn that Florence had headed farther along.
Our condolences to Owen and the family - Tony, Dianna, Tom, Toby, Wanda, Mike, Peter, Mark.
So many fine memories from back in the day, when the Cochrane family lived on Fox Lane and over on Plunkett Street (prior to its being called Wiley Avenue.)
Florence accompanied Tommy and I on our first day of school. (Guess my Mom, Mona Marie, was at home with recent Boyd family arrival, our sister, Melodee.)
Seem to recall Tommy protesting loudly and tearfully that Florence not abandon us on the school steps. Believe I was rendered speechless by the overwhelming newness of the experience.
We didn't have a real firm grasp on how a school day unfolded. So, when we were turned loose at recess, we proceeded to hike back up Albert Street and check out the standing water that had accumulated along the foot of the railway embankment in the curling rink yard.
It seemed to offer more potential for adventure and definitely more freedom of movement, than the classroom we'd been recently introduced to.
When we presented ourselves at Tommy's house (no doubt to score a couple of Florence's dinner rolls, with butter and molasses) - she was somewhat surprised to see us. But nevertheless, good-naturedly escorted us back to Windsor Primary for a second time - to see if the education system could do anything with us.
In all my travels across Canada, Florence Cochrane definitely stands out as an original.
Thanks for the laughs and all the meals, Florence. Rest In Paradise.

I was so sad to read of Florence’s passing. I have lots of wonderful memories of working, laughing and eating together at the old PMH and HCH until her retirement. Always had a smile on her face and love in her heart. When she became ill just before her plan to retire I was so worried that someone who worked as hard as Florence would not get a chance to relax but she did! It is very fitting that the picture in the background has a pie in it! No one ever made more pies (and bread) than Florence. Rest In Peace dear friend.

Florence and Owen were the happiest couple I think I have ever known. Whenever you saw them they were smiling and having fun. For years, they would host the 1st of July celebrations at the house in Hantsport. They knew how to enjoy life.
